HANGING ON by @ActiveChild - I simply cannot stop playing this song on repeat. @ActiveChild, whose album “You Are All I See” is available on @VagrantRecords, is a must-see at #CMJ this week. This multi-layered melodic music is for fans of @BonIver, @Radiohead, and the like. I also have to add that it was a tad of a an Enya feel…and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. @ActiveChild. Now you know.

“INTOXICATED” by @THECAB. This song is my favorite off of this Vegas band’s latest album “Symphony Soldier”. The band embodies rhythmic pop rock - think the rhythmic pop of @JustinTimberlake @Maroon5 & @OneRepublic fused with the pop-rock of @FallOutBoy and the rock of @Incubus. Intoxicated is intoxicating.

LOLLAPALOOZA 2011: 130 Bands & 270,000 Fans in Chicago’s Grant Park
Wednesday 08/10/2011 11:46 PM
Of ALL the music festivals I have attended (and yes, the amount of music festivals I have covered around the globe warrants my being a concert connoisseur of sorts) Lollapalooza is my favorite. The festival was conceived and created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell, and was headlined this year for its 20th Anniversary by a quadruplet of musical masters including Eminem, Foo Fighters, Muse, and Coldplay. Besides its unrivaled roster, Lolla (as it’s affectionately labeled) is laudable for a number of reasons. Here are some of them:
MUSIC: In addition to the 4 head honcho headliners mentioned above, Lollapalooza always has an amazing line-up including artists of all genres and generations. This year included The Cars, My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo, A Perfect Circle, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley & Nas, Foster The People, and Kid Cudi just to name a few of the 130 stellar artists.
LOCATION: It takes place in the middle of a great city as opposed to the middle of a cow-pasture or parking lot.
WEATHER: Chicago in August is perfect. It averages sunny and 85 degrees as opposed to the blistering, sweltering, and sometimes fatal heat of some other concert counterparts. Think human kebab conditions.
FOOD: The festival actually has a culinary curator. Chicago chef and TV personality Graham Elliot Bowles taps fellow Chicago restaurateurs to assemble a culinary line-up to match its hyped headlining musical acts. The only thing better than great music, is great food. By now you may have heard that chefs are the new rockstars….
INTERVIEWS: I had the opportunity to have the exclusive interview with The Cars, and to get some QT with some other great artists such as Foster The People, Tinie Tempah, Lykke Li, The Pretty Reckless, and Cold War Kids. Here are some photos to document the Lolla love.

It was an incredible 20th Anniversary which now makes me realize that next year Lollapalooza will be celebrating its 21st birthday. Cheers, Lolla! Or as Lollapalooza legend Perry Farrell (who has been known to DJ and/or perform at Jewish events such as Purimpalooza) would say, “L’chaim!”

“FAST LANE” by #BadMeetsEvil (@Eminem & @TheRealRoyce59). Still on a high from my exclusive interview with the guys this past weekend @Bonnaroo. The song and the video are undeniable.

“SPOTLIGHT (OH NOSTALGIA)” by Patrick Stump. This song comes at a time where “feel-good” anthems seem to be in demand ala Katy Perry’s “Firework”, Pink’s “F**kin’ Perfect”, Selena Gomez’ “Who Says”. However, this one is my favorite…especially because it has a gang vocal. Thank you, Patrick.

“Something I Can Dance To” by THE KNOCKS, Manhattan-based production duo of Ben “DJ B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson. I saw them open for @EllieGoulding and I’ve been dancing to them ever since. #sdtk

“GUNS AND HORSES” - Ellie Goulding. I have been listening to this English singer/songwriter incessantly since I first heard her passionate one of a kind vocals last summer, and I am STILL wowed from her NYC debut performance at Hiro Ballroom last October 2010. She is definitely an artist to watch, because she’s only going up from here.

“Rolling In The Deep” - Latest single from ADELE’s new album “21”. This is already one of my favorite new albums - such a true talent. I’m already making my Grammy predictions now and it’s only February 2011. Mark my words.
