215lb Deadlift: Strong is the New Skinny

August 28, 2014

Who came up with this concept that skinny is sexy? Ok we know it was heroin-chic Kate Moss circa ’93, but she was way off with her famous quote, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” Clearly, Kate Moss has never had a bison burger.

I believe that everyone is their sexiest when they are fit, strong, and uh, nourished. CrossFit has been a game-changer for me. I’ve been “working out” for years conquering class after class and fad after fad. CrossFit is the real deal. Combining olympic lifting and gymnastics, nothing pushes you harder both physically and mentally. You are constantly growing and evolving, as opposed to simply maintaining as you do when you just commit to conventional gym classes.

Today I hit a Deadlift PR (Personal Record) of 215lbs. This is not only a feat as an athlete, but is an indicator of my mental prowess as well. Achieving strength requires just as mind as it does muscle. I cannot stress enough the importance of strength training for everyone of all ages. Ofcourse everything is modifiable for varying abilities, so find what works for you.  Everyone deserves to be strong, and I don’t just mean the amount of weight you can move. Strive to be your personal best.  And remember, the more lean muscle mass you have, the more you can eat;-)

I invite you to check out my new site that embraces all things fitness, food, and LIFE!  Let’s rock. #FitToFeast
