Shanks…Shanks A Lot, Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar and Grill

“You Are What You Eat” never squealed as loudly as it did tonight during my indulgent tasting at the one and only Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill (308 W. 58th St). Executive Chef David Kornell spoiled me with a slew of both signature and brand new not-yet-listed dishes, such as the fried pork shank. I assured him I was more than willing to be the guinea pig to try the pig.
- Fried Pork Shank – crispy skin + juicy meat = unreal
- Spicy beef salad was a beautiful beginning
- Kanpachi Usuzukuri – thinly sliced amberjack with yuzu pepper melts in your mouth
- Scallops with miso butter – insanity
- Ebi Shumai – home made shrimp dumplings
- Serious Sashimi Platter – stunning
- Gindara Saikyoyaki aka Miso Black Cod – oldie but goodie
- Drum Roll please…Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the infamous… Oxtail Fried Rice (Daikon, Shiitake, & Bone Marrow – One of Chef Kornell’s Signatures)
Thank you to Chef David Kornell and Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill for an incredible evening. It is safe to say that I had the swine of my life. Ok, the pig puns are done. Roll me on out of here.
